Getting Started

Welcome. Mary Claire and I decided to create a blog to keep family and friends updated on our travels to get Max.

We depart Cleveland on July 23 at 730A and fly to Newark, NJ. At noon we depart Newark and fly Continental Airlines non-stop to Beijing, arriving 150p the NEXT DAY.....

  6. Hi Everybody!
I am posting on behalf of Mary and Eric. They cannot access the blog from China due to it being blocked by the government (isn't censorship great).
    Here is the latest update:
They arrived to the hotel safely (no quaratine - thank god!). The Hotel is in a very nice area of Beijing. Their are lots of stores, resturants and people milling about. They walked to a nice resturant last night and had wonderful Peking Duck for dinner. When they emailed me at 4:40 am (our time - 4:40pm their time) they had been up for 26 hours straight and were absolutely exhausted.
Mom and Dad just called at 6:30 (pm for us am for them) and they sound great. Poor Dad has been up since 2:30 but he says he is not tired at all. They are going to the Great Wall today and also to Hutong Lane (if I remember correctly this was the rikshaw tour!). They have met the other families who will be traveling with them (2 total) and they are very nice.
They have lucked out so far on the weather. It rained A LOT yesterday so it is cooler there right now (not 100 degrees yet). It looks like it might be raining a little each day so they may get lucky and not have the hot, hot weather. Keep your fingers crossed.
Hopefully they can figure someway out to post, but until then I will keep you all updated. Just make sure to check the comments and not look for a new posting, since I can only comment. I don't think I will be able to post any pictures of Max here, so if you would like a picture, post your email address on this blog (or you can email me at Meg.Warnement@gmail.com) and I will send you copies. Mary and Eric can't email certain accounts from China either - the government has blocked those as well!
As soon as I hear something else I will let you know. If there is anything you would like me to pass onto them - just post it here.
    Cheers!
    Meg Warnement

  7. It is good to hear all is well. Let them know we, in Charlotte, are thinking of them and know they are in our prayers, even Gracie's! Thanks for posting Met.
